The Making of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is Explored in Trailer For The Doc FIDDLER'S JOURNEY TO THE BIG SCREEN
Zeitgeist Films has released a wonderful trailer for an interesting documentary titled Fiddler's Journey to the Big Screen, which is about the making of the classic 1972 Oscar-winning film Fiddler on the Roof.
The movie follows director Norman Jewison in his “quest to re-create the lost world of Jewish life in tsarist Russia and reimagine the beloved stage musical Fiddler on the Roof as a wide-screen film epic. This new documentary draws on behind-the-scenes footage and original interviews with the Fiddler on the Roof cast and crew.”
Jeff Goldblum also narrates the film, which captures the humor and drama of Jewison's journey “to recreate the lost world of Jewish life in Tsarist Russia as well as re-envision the beloved stage hit as a wide-screen epic. Oscar-nominated doc filmmaker Daniel Raim puts us in the director's chair and in Jewison's heart and mind, drawing on behind-the-scenes footage and never-before-seen stills as well as original interviews with Jewison, Topol (Tevye), composer John Williams, production designer Robert F. Boyle, film critic Kenneth Turan, lyricist Sheldon Harnick, and the actresses Rosalind Harris, Michele Marsh, and Neva Small (as Tevye's daughters). The doc film explores how the experience of making Fiddler deepened Jewison as an artist and revived his soul.”
Zeitgeist Films will debut the movie in select US theaters (NY only) on April 29th, 2022, then in LA on May 6th.
