THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU Trailer Breakdown: Details You Might Have Missed
The first trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu has finally dropped, giving us a thrilling sneak peek at the next chapter of Din Djarin and Grogu’s adventures on the big screen.
This marks the first Star Wars movie since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, and the footage is loaded with action, familiar faces, and some surprising Easter eggs that I wanted to point out.
I’m sure you caught a lot of these, but I thought it would be fun just to do a little break down of the biggest details and references.
A New Ship for Mando and Grogu
At the beginning of the trailer, the duo arrive in a ship that looks like a larger, more tricked-out version of the old Razor Crest. Painted stripes distinguish it from anything we’ve seen before, but its bulkier frame clearly nods back to their beloved vessel destroyed in season 2.
Stormtroopers Return
The trailer opens with Mando and Grogu watching a group of stormtroopers from a ridge. Their presence hints that an Imperial remnant is still active. This lines up with exclusive Star Wars Celebration 2025 footage revealing that Din Djarin is now working with Sigourney Weaver’s Republic character.
Zeb Orrelios Returns
Fans of Star Wars Rebels will be happy to see Zeb back in action. Briefly, he appears in the trailer fighting stormtroopers with his signature Bo-rifle. His live-action debut in The Mandalorian Season 3 was a surprise, but now he’s fully in the fight again.
A Massive AT-AT Battle
Later, we catch sight of an AT-AT walking through a snowy battlefield before it explodes. Celebration footage confirmed that Mando takes down this walker on his own, in true Mandalorian fashion. It’s one of the most jaw-dropping moments shown so far.
Anzellans and Grogu Team-Up
Everyone’s favorite tiny engineers are back. The Anzellans, first introduced in The Rise of Skywalker with Babu Frik, appear alongside Grogu throughout the trailer. We see him riding with them through tunnels, and one even cheers him on with a “good shot, baby.” It’s an adorable reminder that Grogu is becoming a capable little warrior in his own right.
Rotta the Hutt Steps Into Live-Action
One of the biggest surprises is Rotta the Hutt. Originally introduced in The Clone Wars movie as Jabba’s kidnapped son, Rotta is now grown up and seemingly part of a gladiatorial arena sequence. His arrival could shake things up in the underworld of Star Wars.
Dejarik Monster Comes to Life
That gladiatorial ring also gives us a new creature to fear: a beast resembling a cross between a Rancor and a lizard. According to StarWars.com, it’s a monster pulled straight out of Dejarik, the holographic “chess” game seen on the Millennium Falcon. Seeing one of those creatures in the flesh is a deep-cut Easter egg for longtime fans.
A Curious Insignia
Sharp-eyed viewers might notice droids standing guard outside a door stamped with a trident-like insignia. The symbol could tease the villains of the story, but nothing is confirmed yet.
Grogu’s Upgraded Gear
Grogu is battle-ready. He’s wearing the Beskar armor forged for him by the Armorer in season 3 and wielding his wrist blaster, firing green goo at a tunnel monster. It looks like Grogu is more than ready to fight alongside Mando.
Neon Worlds Await
The trailer briefly shows neon signs reflected in a puddle. This could be Coruscant, Daiyu from Obi-Wan Kenobi, or an entirely new planet. Wherever it is, it adds a sleek cyberpunk touch to the trailer’s visuals.
The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer promises a wild ride packed with action, callbacks, and surprises. Between returning favorites like Zeb and Rotta the Hutt, hints at new villains, and Grogu stepping up as a fighter, this looks like the perfect way to bring Star Wars back to theaters.
