THE MANDALORIAN Beats Out STRANGER THINGS as The Most In-Demand Streaming Series
Star Wars fans have been loving Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian series and it’s kicking ass on Disney+. It’s doing so well that the series has dethroned Netflix’s Stranger Things as the most in-demand streaming series.
According to Business Insider, “Stranger Things enjoyed 21 straight weeks at the top of Parrot Analytics' weekly list of the most in-demand original streaming shows in the US, but The Mandalorian has surpassed it.”
If you’re not familiar with Parrot Analytics, it measures "‘demand expressions’, the company's standardized TV-demand measurement unit designed to reflect the desire, engagement, and viewership of a series weighted by importance.”
According to Parrot Analytics, The Mandalorian had over 100 million demand expressions during the week of November 17th to November 23rd, while Stranger Things had 81 million. A Parrot Analytics representative said in a statement:
"While demand is a metric that should not be confused with subscriber numbers, this is a strong indication that the 'Star Wars' series is driving a lot of sign-ups to the recently-debuted Disney Plus service.”
Since it’s launch, Disney+ has crossed 15 million downloads and I’m sure that The Mandalorian has a huge part to play in that. The series isn’t only a hit with the fans and audiences, it’s also a hit with the critics. It’s a great show and it’s good to see Star Wars fans universally excited about something again!
