THE MANDALORIAN Cast Didn't Know about Luke Skywalker's Return Until the Season Finale Aired
The big Luke Skywalker reveal at the end of The Mandalorian Season 2 finale was such a freakin’ cool reveal, and it was done in the most awesome of ways! The reveal of Luke was such a big secret that the creators of the series didn’t even tell the cast. That cast didn’t even know it was Luke until they watched the series finale like the rest of us!
Katee Sackhoff, who plays the live-action version of Bo-Katan Kryze, revealed this bit of information in an interview with The Sith Council saying:
“I didn’t know [it was Luke] until I saw it with you guys…They didn’t tell us. There was an actor there with dots on his face.”
The actor they had on set was Max Lloyd-Jones, and he served as a body double for Luke Skywalker. Sackhoff had her suspicions that it was Luke Skywalker, but she still wasn’t 100% sure. She explained:
“I mean, kind of. But at the same time, I thought to myself, ‘They would have let us know that.’ You know, they said… Who did they say it was? I think Robin [Gadsby] knew who they said it was, but it was a complete red herring. So we didn’t know. I knew it was a Jedi. I knew it was an X-Wing. So you start to put things together, but you don’t know.”
It’s safe to assume that Bo-Katan will be back for The Mandalorian Season 3, but we have no idea what the plans for Luke Skywalker and Grogu are. Season 3 might just heavily lean into the Mandalore side of the story, especially with Mando now wielding the Darksaber and Bo-Katan wanting it. We’ll eventually find out!
There are a few other Star Wars shows in development that fan are excited about including Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, The Book of Boba Fett, and Andor.
Where do you expect The Mandalorian Season 3 to go, and how do you think the story of Luke and Grogu will be handled?
