THE MANDALORIAN - Fun Fan Theory Involving The Child and The Eggs in "The Passenger"
One of the amusing running gags throughout The Mandalorian Chapter 10 - “The Passenger” involved The Child eating the unfertilized eggs of an alien species that is the last of their kind. It was both kind of sad and funny watching The Child swallow these eggs because this poor alien woman is traveling across the galaxy to keep them safe and ensure the survival of her race!
Well, there’s an interesting fan theory that has been shared that I liked, so I thought I’d share it with you. The theory comes from our friends at /Film and Peter Sciretta shared a comment that came from a live chat, in which someone said that Baby Yoda may have been actually working to protect those eggs, not eat them.
According to the theory, Baby Yoda knew that the eggs were in danger and needed to be protected, and he swallowed them to keep them safe. This way, if all of the other eggs are destroyed, The Child can regurgitate the eggs he swallowed and be the hero of that story.
I have no idea if this is how things will play out in the story, but I do love this theory and it totally makes sense in my mind that The Child would not bring harm to something he knows is important. It’s been made clear that The Child is a healer, and that he uses his powers to protect things in trouble.
