THE MANDALORIAN Season 2 - First Images Released and Jon Favreau Compares The Next Season To GAME OF THRONES
Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have our first look at Lucasfilm and Disney+’s The Mandalorian Season 2! They’ve released two magazine covers and six photos for you to check out. They feature The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal), Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), Cara Dune (Gina Carano), and The Child.
When talking about the upcoming new season, Favreau explained, “The new season is about introducing a larger story in the world, The stories become less isolated, yet each episode has its own flavor, and hopefully we’re bringing a lot more scope to the show.”
He went on to compare Season 2 to Game of Thrones, saying, “As we introduce other characters, there are opportunities to follow different storylines. The world was really captivated by Game of Thrones and how that evolved as the characters followed different storylines — that's very appealing to me as an audience member.”
Producer and director Dave Filoni added, “Everything gets bigger, the stakes get higher, but also the personal story between the Child and the Mandalorian develops in a way I think people will enjoy.”
It’s explained that as Mando and the Child continue their quest, we can expect to see “the bounty hunter to face a series of obstacles that will increasingly challenge his paternal loyalty to his ward.” Pedro Pascal goes on to expand on that saying, “We start very directly after the first [season] and he's going into very dangerous territory. He is very much a passenger to the experience in unexpected ways — not knowing what’s to come, not knowing how much or how best to protect the Child. We don’t know how far he will go to do that, and they’re finding new ways to push the envelope.”
Well, I can’t wait to see where this next chapter of the story takes these characters! I also can’t wait to see the new characters that are coming to the series! They include Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett and maybe Captain Rex, Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan, Timothy Olyphant as Cobb Vanth, and Michael Biehn in a yet to be revealed role.
The Mandalorian Season 2 will feature episodes directed by Jon Favreau, Carl Weathers, Dave Filoni, Peyton Reed, Robert Rodriguez, and Bryce Dallas Howard.
The Mandalorian Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on October 30th, 2020!
