THE MANDALORIAN Season 3 Footage Description, The Return of Bo-Katan, and Premiere Date!
Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni made an appearance at Star Wars Celebration to hype up the fans for The Mandalorian Season 3, and holy crap! They certainly delivered the goods!
They announced that the third season of The Mandalorian will premiere on Disney+ in February 2023. Also announced that the Ahsoka spinoff, starring Rosario Dawson will arrive sometime in 2023.
It was also revealed that Katee Sackhoff will return to reprise her role as Bo-Katan Kryse! She will join Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin and Grogu.
Fans in attendance, like myself, were then lucky enough to be treated to an exclusive teaser trailer that you won’t be officially released for a while. The footage was freakin’ awesome and it offered a little glimpse at what’s in store for Mando and Grogu as they continue their adventure.
The next chapter of the story finds Din Djarin and Grogu heading off to Mandalore so that he could be "forgiven for his transgressions." Now, the Armorer says that redemption is no longer possible, but Din is going to put in the effort and try!
As you know, he was expelled by the Armorer after he revealed that he removed his helmet. He was also trying to connect with the Darksaber, which would make him ruler of Mandalore.
The footage also showed that he will reunite with the Armorer (Emily Swallow). It also offered a look at the return of Bo-Katan Kryze, and it looks like she’ll have an antagonistic role in the story, which makes sense because there’s no doubt she wants the Darksaber back.
There was a scene between her and Grogu in the trailer where she asks him, "Did you think your father was the only Mandalorian?" There’s also a shot of her sitting on a throne and sporting a different hairstyle than we’ve seen before.
Carl Weathers is also back as Greef Karga and is featured in the trailer reuniting with Din Djarin and they are very happy to see each other again. We also saw the return of Omid Abtahi's Dr. Pershing, and it looks like the New Republic is going to be very involved in the new story.
The trailer was also packed with a lot of cool and exciting action-packed and intense footage! Things are definitely tense between Mando and Bo-Katan.
I was really hoping that The Mandalorian Season 3 would dive deeper into the mythology of Mandalore and the Darksaber, and it looks like that’s exactly what we’re going to get!
