THE MANDALORIAN Video Essay Explores How Fan Service is Done Well on Tatooine

I’ve got a great video essay for all you Star Wars fan out there to check out. Specifically, fans of The Mandalorian as it explores Chapter 9 and how fan service is done so well in the Tatooine setting of the story.

As you know, Jon Favreau and his creative team didn’t overdo it with the fan service. It didn’t feel like a gimmick. The way the fan service was handled was perfectly done. They hit the sweet spot and it’s something that the fans appreciate. Overdoing it could bring in the fan backlash, but thankfully, the team working on this series are smart and they actually understand the Star Wars universe and its fanbase.

The video comes from Captain Midnight, who says:

The Mandalorian returned for season 2 with an episode set on Tatooine. In this video, I discuss how Star Wars has used the desert planet in the past. And how the Disney Plus show changed all that, with help from Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth (and Baby Yoda).

Enjoy the video!
