THE MANDLAORIAN Season 3 Photos Feature Bo-Katan and Katee Sackhoff Talks About Feeling Her Character's Pain

We have a couple of new photos to share with you from Lucasfilm’s upcoming The Mandalorian Season 3. These photos come from Empire, and they both feature Katee Sackhoff‘s badass Mandalorian character, Bo-Katan. One of the most exciting aspects of the upcoming season of the series is that it will continue to expand on Bo-Katan’s story and Mandalore.

Sackhoff has been playing this character ever since she was first introduced in the Star Wars franchise in 2012 in The Clone Wars animated series. She has a strong connection to the character and it’s so cool that now she actually gets to play the live-action version of the character.

Bo-Katan is going to have a much bigger role in the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian, and in a recent interview, Sackhoff talked about her connection to the character:

“I’ve lived in this woman’s skin for a long time now. One of the things that Jon Favreau and I focus on is where she is in the moment, what peppers her experience. Jon and Rick Famuyiwa, every single day, defer to me, which is a crazy experience, to have these masters asking me what I feel.

“It respects the craft, and the years that I have put in. I really do know her – her pain is my pain. When she experiences something, I really feel it.”

There are five different women who wear the Bo-Katan armor throughout the shooting of Season 3, the rest include the stunt team. But Sackhoff still got to do some cool stunts herself while shooting. She said:

“If one person has a better skill-set than the other, well, that person needs to put the suit on that day. That being said, I have a wicked knee-slide. I’ve been practicing my knee-slides on my mum’s kitchen with dish rags since I was five years old, so when that knee-slide comes up, you’ll know: that’s me. There are holes in my suit because I had to do that so many times. I came home with so many bruises on my knees. But I love that. If I came home with bruises, it was a good day!”

This next chapter of the story also sees Mando (Pedro Pascal) stepping into a leadership position, and Bo-Katan is dealing with the disappointment of not taking back the Darksaber.

The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.

Pascal said in a previous interview, "Three is even better than the previous one.” Sackhoff also described the upcoming episodes as "dark." Then there’s Giancarlo Esposito, who takes on the role of the villainous Moff Gideon. He added that the scale is "larger than ever… and it's just an expansion, in many ways, of last season. It's a season that has great ideas, great teasings, and great tips for the future."

The Mandalorian Season 3 will premiere on Disney+ on March 1st, 2023.
