THE MARVELS Director Nia DaCosta Praises Brie Larson's Acting in the Film
After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 comes out in May, the next MCU film we have to look forward to is The Marvels. The film stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Teyonah Parris returning as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani from Ms. Marvel as Kamala Khan.
The film, which is said to be heavily inspired by the Secret Invasion comic book storyline, is being directed by Nia DaCosta, from a script written by Megan McDonnell.
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the film’s director talked about Brie Larson’s acting range and incredible control she exhibited in playing the role of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, saying:
“We were doing a scene that was more emotional, and Larson turns to me, take three or four, and goes, ‘So, I’m holding the tears in, but if you want them to fall, let me know.’ The kind of control she has over her instrument is really impressive.”
Larson is, after all, an Academy Award-winning actress. She won her award for the 2015 film Room, and she has won an Emmy and starred in many other heavy-hitting roles as well. She’s no amateur. It think she gives a lot of depth to the role of Captain Marvel, and I am excited to see her return to it and dive deeper into her story.
The Marvels is said to “include many important MCU characters,” with the film being described as a "mini-Avengers film." The film is scheduled to hit theaers on November 10th. Are you looking forward to it?
