The Millennium Falcon Model from Bluefin is Incredibly Fun and Detailed

A bit ago, I wrote about some awesome-looking new Star Wars models coming from Bluefin. Well, they were nice enough to send me the Millennium Falcon model and I finally finished it over the weekend. It was such a blast. I love building models, and this was no different. Everything is simple, just time consuming and there are some choices you have to make along the way. That can make you stop and think such as which piece to use over the cockpit, the clear one or the frame one (I chose the frame piece).

Before you embark on completing any of these models it is recommended that you have a pair of side cutters. I use the Tamiya ones here. Then, you just have to know to initially cut a little way away from the part and then clean up with the cutters or a hobby knife. You don’t need any glue and paint is optional. I did not paint the model. I wanted to show what it would look like if you weren’t a master model builder and just wanted to build from the box. However, if you like painting, they do provide a nice color guide at the back of the instructions to help you out. Another tool you may want to consider having is a Gundam marker for panel lining. It’s not necessary and I’m debating whether or not I will panel line the Falcon, but it has potential for really making the lines pop and potentially add a bit of a wear and tear factor.

In addition, you are provided both stickers and water decals for adding color and details to different areas. I used the stickers because I’m not sure I was doing the water decals right. It was my first time trying and they didn’t want to set. If I get another chance though, I will try water decals again.

My one problem was that throughout the instructions it would say to put on certain stickers, but other stickers are just part of the guide at the back. I felt that some stickers would’ve been easier to put on before some of the parts and therefore should’ve been included earlier in the instructions like so many of the other parts.

All in all, if you love Star Wars and you love building models, I cannot recommend these new ones from Bluefin enough.
