The MINIONS Sequel Gets a Title and 2020 Release Date

Universal and Illumination has given its Minions sequel a name and a date. The sequel comes after the 2015 spin-off film that branched off the Despicable Me films, which are the highest-grossing animated film franchise in history, so we know there’s a huge fanbase all built in.

My kids love every movie in this world, and are very excited to get a new one. Minions: The Rise of Gru is set to hit theaters on July 3, 2020. We don’t have a plot yet, but the title suggests that it will give us an origin story for Gru.

There are no casting details either, aside from Steve Carell who voices Gru in the movies.
