THE MONSTER Trailer: There's Something in The Woods, and It's Not Happy

I remember being very impressed with the horror film The Strangers back in 2008, but writer/director Bryan Bertino has only directed one movie since then (a 2014 film called Mockingbird that didn't make much of an impact on the horror community). Now he's back with a new film called The Monster, and it looks like he's putting his skillset of directing terrifying action centered around a single location to good use here. A mother (Ruby Sparks star Zoe Kazan) and her daughter are stranded alone on a highway that runs through the country woods, and there's something lurking in the woods with large teeth...

Check out the trailer below, and if you're a DirecTV customer interested in watching it, the movie is available for you right now on that service. For the rest of us, we'll have to wait until November 11 to see it in theaters or on VOD.

Acclaimed horror filmmaker Bryan Bertino (The Strangers) directs this suspenseful and scary new film, in which a divorced mother (Zoe Kazan) and her headstrong daughter must make an emergency late night road trip to see the girl’s father.  As they drive through deserted country roads on a stormy night, they suddenly have a startling collision that leaves them shaken but not seriously hurt.  Their car, however, is dead, and as they try in vain to get help, they come to realize they are not alone on these desolate backroads - a terrifying evil is lurking in the surrounding woods, intent on never letting them leave…
