THE MUMMY Director Lee Cronin Says Horror Reboot Is “All Wrapped Up” and Shares BTS Photo
The tomb has officially been sealed… for now. Director Lee Cronin has confirmed that principal photography on The Mummy reboot is complete, marking a major step forward in Blumhouse and Atomic Monster’s resurrection of the iconic Universal monster.
Cronin made the announcement on social media with a behind-the-scenes image from set. The photo shows a director’s chair with the film’s logo and a foggy, stone chamber.
“This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before,” Cronin previously said when production kicked off. “I'm digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.”
Coming off the grotesque energy of Evil Dead Rise, Cronin clearly has no plans to play this one safe.
The film stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, Veronica Falcón, May Calamawy, and May Elghety, though we still don’t know who’s playing what. No character details have surfaced. Given the pedigree of the cast and Cronin’s twisted storytelling style, there’s reason to expect something a little weirder and darker than previous Mummy outings.
Blumhouse and Atomic Monster are co-financing the film, with genre powerhouses James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville producing.
The release date is already set: April 17, 2026. So mark your calendars, and maybe start brushing up on your ancient curses.
