THE MUPPETS Director James Bobin To Helm The ACTION MAN Movie

Hasbro is moving forward with their feature film adaptation of Action Man at Paramount Pictures. According to Deadline, they've hired James Bobin (The Muppets, Alice Through the Looking Glass) to direct the movie.

For those of you not familiar with Action Man, it is a military action figure line that is basically the British version of G.I. Joe that was launched in the 60s. There are no details on the story, but Simon Farnaby (Paddington 2) is writing the script.

I was familiar with Action Man when I was growing up, but living in the U.S., I obviously preferred G.I. Joe. This will definitely be a different kind of project for Bobin, who also worked on Da Ali G Show and Flight of the Concords, but I hope that he ends up making a great movie!

Maybe the Action Man movie will succeed where G.I. Joe failed. If you want a full detailed history fn Action Man, you can read up on it here.
