The MY LITTLE PONY Movie Moves to Netflix In Place of Theaters
A My Little Pony movie was supposed to open in theaters later this year on September 24. Unfortunately, with the state of the world in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, movie theaters are struggling and are typically either closed or opened in a limited capacity.
This means that several studios are hesitant to release films through the traditional medium. This includes Hasbro’s Entertainment One studio who has sold the distribution rights of My Little Pony to Netflix instead of Paramount Pictures. My Little Pony will now premiere on Netflix at some point.
There’s no release date, but it is expected to release in 2021. I wouldn’t be surprised if it launched around the same time as the original September date. The film is directed by Robb Cullen and Jose Ucha.
