THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY Moves to Disney+ and Targets Launch Next Year

Earlier this year, we learned that the talented Tony Hale would be starring as Mr. Benedict in the series adaptation of Trenton Lee Stewart’s books The Mysterious Benedict Society. Well, the series is still in the works, but it appears that some changes have been made for release. Originally planned to release on Hulu, the series will now be launched in 2021 on Disney+. The series is created and written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi and sounds interesting.

The show stars Emmy® Award winner Tony Hale (“Veep,” “Arrested Development”) in the titular role and features a standout ensemble of young actors. Placed undercover at a boarding school known as The Institute, a group of orphans must foil a nefarious plot with global ramifications while creating a new sort of family along the way.

The first season will have 8 episodes based on the first book and additional stars include Kristen Schaal (Bob’s Burgers), Ryan Hurst, MaameYaa Boafo, Gia Sandhu, Seth Carr, Emmy DeOliveira, Mystic Inscho, and Marta Timofeeva. Talking about the change in platforms, Dana Walden of Walt Disney Television said:

‘The Mysterious Benedict Society’ is a beautifully executed adaptation of the celebrated and beloved book series. It’s original, clever and fun for the whole family, which makes it the perfect fit for Disney+. One of the great benefits to creators working with our company is that we have a platform that’s right for every series, and having seen the first few episodes of this show, there is no better home for it than Disney+.

Are you excited to see this book series brought to life on Disney+?
