THE NAKED GUN and AIRPLANE! Director Developing Noir Spoof Movie THE STAR OF MALTA

Director and producer David Zucker, the man behind comedy spoof film franchises such as Airplane!, The Naked Gun, Scary Movie, and more, has got another spoof movie in development.

His next film is titled The Star of Malta, and this movie will spoof classic noir and caper movies. Zucker is developing the movie with with his frequent collaborators Pat Proft and Michael McManus. Zucker also co-wrote the script with Proft, who also happens to be the creator of the the Police Academy movies.

The story is set in late-1940s America, “Malta follows prizefighter Joe Medina, newly released from prison for killing his opponent in the ring, as he pursues his love, Harriet Evans, to Hollywood. Hitchhiking west, he accidentally gains possession of a highly sought-after but cursed gemstone, known as The Star of Malta, and proceeds on an accidental murder spree, leaving a trail of people he never intended to kill.

I’ve enjoyed many of the spoof comedy films that Zucker has made over the years. They’re just silly fun, and The Star of Malta sounds like it’ll deliver some great spoof entertainment.
