The New CHILDREN OF THE CORN Movie Will Be a Prequel Leading Up to the Events of Stephen King's Story
Equilibrium director Kurt Wimmer has completed shooting his upcoming Children of the Corn movie, which is inspired by the classic story written by Stephen King. The movie was initially reported as being a remake, but now we’ve learned the film will actually be a prequel.
Producer Lucas Foster recently talked to Variety and said that the upcoming movie has “almost nothing to do with” the 1984 movie, which was directed by Fritz Kiersch. He explained that they “went back to the story and free-associated from there.”
It’s said that the film “describes the events leading up to, and including, the massacre of the adults of a small town in Nebraska by their children, after the adults’ irresponsibility ruins the crop and the children’s future.”
So this movie will tell the story of what happened prior to Burt and Vicky traveling through the small isolated town of Gaitlin, which is being run by the children who rose up and killed their parents. That story centers on their encounters with these strange kids who serve an entity that they call “He Who Walks Behind the Rows.”
This was always a super disturbing story for me, just a bunch of kids rising up to kill their parents is pretty messed up shit. But, I also really liked the film, and I’ve gotta say, I’m curious to see how the story for this prequel film plays out.
