The New CRITICAL ROLE Trailer Ushers in Campaign 4
Change is on the horizon for Critical Role. The massively popular Actual Play series is stepping into uncharted territory with Campaign 4, and the new trailer just gave fans their first look at what’s in store.
With Brennan Lee Mulligan from Dimension 20 taking the Dungeon Master seat, fresh cast members joining the table, and a brand new setting, this campaign is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious in the show’s decade-long history.
The trailer, released ahead of the October 2 premiere, leans heavily on Mulligan’s narration as the cast dives back into Dungeons & Dragons. It’s a simple preview, but one that sets the stage for a darker, intriguing adventure.
This time, the story unfolds in Aramán, a world where the gods have perished. At the center of it all is Thjazi Fang, a man marked for execution. Three separate adventuring parties, known as the Soldiers, Seekers, and Schemers, will each unravel Fang’s fate while navigating a realm suddenly abandoned by divine power.
Of course, Critical Role wouldn’t be what it is without its core players returning. Laura Bailey plays Thimble, Taliesin Jaffe steps in as Bolaire Lathalia, Travis Willingham becomes Teor Pridesire, Marisha Ray embodies Murray Mag’nesson, Liam O’Brien takes on Halandril Fang, Sam Riegel portrays Wicander Halovar, Ashley Johnson brings Valeus to life, and Matt Mercer joins in as Julian Davinos.
Joining them are familiar faces from previous campaigns. Robbie Daymond, Aabria Iyengar, and Luis Carazo return as Kattigan Vale, Thaisha Lloy, and Azune Nayar.
Newcomers Whitney Moore and Alexander Ward enter the fold as Tyranny and Occtis Tachonis.
The exact lineup of the three adventuring groups is still under wraps, but Mulligan has hinted that the campaign will feature rotating teams, possibly changing each week or even each episode.
This structure has been compared to Free Marches, adding a fresh energy and unpredictability to the storytelling.
Campaign 4 feels like the start of something entirely new. With Mulligan guiding the narrative, a world stripped of gods, and a sprawling cast of characters, fans are in for an epic ride.
