The New MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Film Will Be Written By IRON MAN Writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway

For years Sony Pictures has been trying to get a new film adaptation of the classic 80s animated series He-Man and The Masters of the Universe off the ground.

They’ve had so many filmmakers attached to the project over the years, but for one reason or another they just haven’t been able to get the film into production.

As of right now, brothers Adam and Aaron Nee are still set to direct the film. They previously made a little indie film back in 2015 called Band of Robbers. Now, there are two new writers who have been hired to help write the script. Those writers are Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who have written the films Iron Man and Men in Black: International.

The previous draft of the screenplay was written by David S. Goyer, who has worked on several of the DC movie properties.

As a long time fan of He-Man, I want this Masters of the Universe film to be epic! I’m sure one day it will happen, but I seriously doubt it will be as good as what it could have been with the script that Justin Marks wrote over a decade ago, when the film was going by the title Grayskull. It was as epic as The Lord of the Rings and it’s a shame the movie didn’t happen with that script.

As for this upcoming version of the film here’s a description of the story that surfaced:

Our source has indicated to us that in the upcoming film, King Randor will be presented as the great warrior-king of Eternia, a descendant of the Grayskulls, and the father of two sons: Adam and Keldor! As the film begins, Keldor is the chosen heir to the throne and his brother, Adam, is young, unfit and a bit of a black sheep. Where Adam’s relationship with his father is strained, Keldor is the epitome of a perfect son, beloved by his father…until the fate of Eternia is put on the line. With his kingdom on the line, Randor puts his people first, betraying Keldor, inciting the series of events that leads to him becoming the iconic Skeletor!

The film will follow the meek and uncertain Adam as he assembles a group of heroes to take on his fallen brother and his collection of cronies. As you might expect, some familiar faces will be joining Adam in the fight.

I really hope that this Masters of the Universe movie turns out to be better than what I’m expecting. I hope the team of talent developing it will deliver an epic fantasy adventure film. There’s no reason that this movie couldn’t be as good as The Lord of the Rings.

Do you think they’ll be able to pull it off?
