The New Scooby-Doo Movie SCOOB! Will Skip Theaters and Be Released Digitally Next Month

Warner Bros.’ latest Scooby-Doo movie, Scoob!, was supposed to be released in theaters on May 15th, 2020. Well, the studio still plans on releasing the Scoob! on that date, but instead, it will be released digitally. You will be able to rent Scoob for $19.99 in the U.S. and Canada or you can buy it for $24.99.

Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff said in a statement:

“While we’re all eager to be able to once again show our films in theaters, we’re navigating new, unprecedented times which call for creative thinking and adaptability in how we distribute our content. We know fans are eager to see ‘Scoob’ and we’re delighted we can deliver this feel-good movie for families to enjoy while they’re home together.”

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

SCOOB! reveals how lifelong friends Scooby and Shaggy first met and how they joined with young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc. Now, with hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this global “dogpocalypse,” the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.

Frank Welker returns to provide the voice of Scooby-Doo, and he’ll be joined by Zac Efron as Fred, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne, Gina Rodriguez as Velma, and Will Forte as Shaggy. The film also stars Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman and Kiersey Clemons as Dee Dee Skyes. Jason Isaacs is voicing the villain Dick Dastardly, and Ken Jeong will play Blue Falcon’s sidekick, Dynomutt. Then there’s Iain Armitage from Young Sheldon and Mckenna Grace from Captain Marvel, who are playing young versions of Shaggy and Daphne.

Scoob! is directed by Scooby-Doo franchise veteran Tony Cervone.
