The New Trailer for POKEMON SCARLET and POKEMON VIOLET Shows Three Story Options and More
This morning, The Pokémon Company dropped a new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. The games will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch on November 18 and takes place in the Spanish-influenced Paldea region. These are the ninth generation of core Pokémon games and fans are hyped! You can pre-order your copy now from the eShop or your favorite retailers including GameStop (affiliate link). Which version are you going to be playing.
In the new trailer, Treasure Hunts are being highlighted as well as three story paths. We also saw double battle make an appearance which is exciting, and we met some of the new characters we’ll find and some new Pokémon. It looks like at least some of the gyms will have challenges for you to complete before you can challenge them. There are some really cool things throughout the trailer, and can we give it up for our boy Sudowoodo who finally gets to be a grass-type? I’m so proud of him!
The three story paths are Victory Road, Path of Legends, and Starfall Street. Victory Road is the traditional Gym challenge and quest to become the Pokémon Champion. Path of Legends is a story that involves looking for rare ingredients called Herba Mystica with the Upperclassman Arven. Starfall Street will involve you challenging the delinquents known as Team Star. One of the big pushes for Scarlet and Violet is the open world and so the game is designed to allow you to explore these three stories however you want. Which will be your primary goal?
Another feature that I didn’t notice in the trailer is the “Let’s Go!” feature. In Paldea, you can have a partner Pokémon walk around with you which is always a delight, but there’s more. You can tell the Pokémon to go explore in a direction and it will pick up items in the area and even have Auto Battles. OH MY GOSH THIS IS AWESOME!
Some of the new characters for Scarlet and Violet include Mela, the boss of Team Star, the Pokémon League Chaiorwoman Geeta, and the Grass-type Gym Leader Brassius. You can find them and default images of Team Star Grunts right here.
New Pokémon revealed include Armarouge, Ceruledge, and Klawf. I love all of these designs. The first two do feel like characters from Mega Man, but that’s not bad. I especially love Klawf! He looks so goofy and cute at the same time. I’ll probably be adding some of these guys to my team. Also, Armarouge will be exclusive to Scarlet while Ceruledge is a Violet exclusive.
Armarouge
Armarouge’s set of armor belonged to a distinguished warrior and is the source of the energy used for its Psychic-type moves. It also uses the psychic capabilities of this armor to control the fire energy within its body and unleash attacks.

Ceruledge dons an old set of armor steeped in grudges and wields blades made of fire and ghost energy. In battle, these blades transform into great swords to increase Ceruledge’s power. Cuts from these great swords leave wounds from which life energy will flow.
