The Newest POKEMON Movie Will Retell The Indigo League Story Without Brock And Misty

The newest Pokemon movie looks to retell the story of Ash when he first set off on his Pokemon journey, and it looks like Brock and Misty are NOT along for the ride. Weirdly enough, Kotaku reports the film will drop the two characters and add in two new characters who can be seen in the photo below:

While some fans are rightfully furious about the retcon, it almost looks as though these new characters will come from regions other than Kanto. Their character profiles show them with Pokemon from other generations so perhaps this is the anime's way of explaining how the world was largely ignorant of the types of Pokemon until Ash Ketchum blundered into their region. 

Even if there is a valid reason, I feel like they did Brock and Misty dirty. The original anime had some of the best storylines of the series and it'll be a shame if they try to retcon it! Don't you agree?
