The Next DIE HARD Sequel Will Be Written By THE CONJURING Scribes

The next Die Hard sequel that has been in development since 2015 is moving forward with two new screenwriters. The studio has hired Chad and Carey Hayes to rewrite the script for Die Hard 6. They have written the scripts for both of The Conjuring films that were directed by James Wan

Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) is still set to produce and direct the sequel, which is said to be both a prequel and a sequel. The film will be set in 1979, when McClane was fighting crime as a New York City cop. It will show how he "became a die hard kind of guy." Bruce Willis will reprise his role in the film, but in the later part of the story which will take place in the present. The movie is expected to jump back and forth between the past and the present.

The movie is also said to be aiming for a "Die Hard: Year One type of feel, in reference to Frank Miller’s beloved comic book Batman: Year One."

The Hayes brothers have also co-written films such as House of WaxThe ReapingWhiteout and Amblin’s upcoming haunted house movie The Turning starring Mackenzie Davis. I loved their work on The Conjuring franchise, and Die Hard 6 should be a fun project for them to take on!

Are you looking forward to seeing this next chapter in the Die Hard franchise?
