The Next PURGE Film Will Be Titled THE FOREVER PURGE

The fifth film in the Purge franchise has been given a title, and that title is The Forever Purge. That seems appropriate for a tired horror franchise that will never end. But, this fifth film is supposed to the last one, unless Universal decides to reboot it or make another sequel.

This next movie will take “the Purge out of its usual metropolitan setting while still dealing with class and race issues in the way the previous films have.” So, maybe this next story will instead have a small-town setting, which would be a different and interesting direction for the franchise.

Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes are once again producing the film with creator James DeMonaco, who previously talked about bringing an end to the franchise, saying:

“I have it in my head. I think I’m going to write it. I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home."

I thought the first Purge movie was great. I didn’t care for the first couple of sequels and I didn’t even bother to watch the fourth one. With all crime being legal, there’s so much to explore with this concept. But, for some reason, the movies only deal with murdering people. Change things up! I’d be down for a Purge heist film or something. Oh well, wasted potential to explore the world more.

The current release date for The Forever Purge is July 10, 2020.
