The Next Series From BREAKING BAD Creator Vince Gilligan Is Being Compared to THE TWILIGHT ZONE
Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, is developing a new original series that he will jump into now that Better Call Saul is coming to an end. The yet-to-be-revealed project is reportedly comparable to Rod Serling’s classic series The Twilight Zone and The X-Files.
According to the report, the new show “harkens back to Gilligan’s tenure on The X-Files. But don’t expect a sci-fi drama — when he was a writer-producer on The X-Files, Gilligan was known for focusing more on the human condition in his episodes, which is something he is said to also be doing in his new series, exploring similar themes of bending reality while holding a mirror to humanity.”
The new show is also described as “a blended, grounded genre drama” and is said to be “set in our world while putting a tweak on it, focusing on people and exploring the human condition in an unexpected, surprising way.”
The series is also said to be “thought-provoking but not a morality tale, the new show is expected to carry the signature Gilligan tone that infuses drama with humor.”
GIllaigan said: "I'm going to be pitching it soon and it could not be more different than Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and I'm hoping it sells and I'm hoping people like it. You just never know, but I'd be very excited to see it get made."
I love the episodes that Gilligan worked on for The X-Files, and The Twilight Zone is one of my favorite shows of all time. So, this new series is something that I’m very much excited about seeing! I can’t wait to learn more about it!
