THE OFFICE Creator Has an Idea for a Series Reboot; There Is Talk of a FRIENDS Revival
The Office was a great show that had a fantastic run on NBC. That show always made me laugh, and there was stuff done in that show that you would never be able to replicate today due to the PC culture we now live in. But, apparently creator Greg Daniels has an idea for a reboot
NBC has already considered a possible reboot of the series, but with Daniels on board, it’s something they could very well eventually pull the trigger on. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, former NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said:
“I was talking to [series creator] Greg Daniels four years ago about rebooting The Office, way before this. He wants to do it and actually has an idea for it.”
We have no idea what the idea Daniels has come up with, but I’m curious to know. Could he actually develop a new Office series that could strike lightning again? I’d be interested to find out. If this did happen, I doubt it would involve the original cast as they’ve all moved on, but who knows what Daniels has got planned in his head.
Greenblatt was also asked about the possible Friends revival. Thanks to Netflix, the show has found a whole new audience and is probably more popular now than it’s ever been. A Friends revival is something that Greenblatt would love to do and when asked about the possibility, he said. “We’re talking about it.”
“I got [the cast] to do the James Burrows tribute special when I was at NBC. And all I will say is, ‘We're talking about it.’ We've been drilling down on what it could be and trying to see if everybody's really on board and interested. And if so, can we make the right deals for everybody. We're starting it as a special. It's possible there could be something ongoing, but it would be in steps. We're far from that.'“
It would certainly be interesting to see if this is something that he could eventually make happen and what that revival might look like if it did.
