THE OFFICE Showrunner Greg Daniels Responds to Rumors of a Reboot of the Beloved Series
There have been rumors for years that NBC might be working on a reboot to the fan-favorite sitcom The Office, but they have ramped up in recent months, and showrunner Greg Daniels has finally responded to the chatter, coyly telling Collider:
"Well, I think that it's very speculative. The fact that it kind of blew up based on one line in a Puck piece was kind of cool, I guess, in the sense that the fans still care a lot. But the thing I would say is, when there's something to announce, I will definitely announce it."
This is not the first time Daniels has addressed a reboot, previously stating it's "not impossible" for something to happen, but he certainly doesn’t want to make a hasty decision and let down the fanbase. Daniels has also said in the past that should The Office continue in some capacity, "it would just be sort of like an extension of the universe, you know what I mean, like the way [The] Mandalorian is like an extension of 'Star Wars.'"
CB reports that Daniels added to that sentiment when he previously said in a THR profile:
"It was such a perfect thing that I would hesitate to open it up. We got the chance to end it the way we wanted to end it. It wasn't like we were interrupted in the middle of a run or something. So in a sense it's completely an artistic whole. But, that said, I don't know, the cast every now and then talks about getting back together in some form, but I don't see it being a reboot like the way Will & Grace was rebooted."
So, that’s all interesting. Who knows if or when this will actually happen, or what it would look like, but I know I’d be stoked to see it if it all worked out! Would you be excited for an Office reboot?
