THE OFFICE Showrunner Greg Daniels Teaming With Michael Koman to Create Series Set in THE OFFICE Universe

The Office was a fantastic series that ran for nine seasons from 2005 to 2013, and has continued to remain a fan-favorite that we have rewatched over the years, and wondered if we could even revisit. Showrunner Greg Daniels has hinted over the years that while the series was wrapped up neatly, if an idea were to come about that made sense for a sequel series, reboot, or otherwise, he may be open to it. Now he has confirmed that he will be working on a series set in the same universe, and he is teaming up with Nathan for You co-creator, Michael Koman to make it.

Daniels and Koman would serve as co-creators of the prospective series, which has not yet been greenlit to series and is still in development at Universal Television. It is not a reboot of The Office but is set in the same universe, meaning it would likely be set in a different office setting with all new characters.

Daniels opened a development room in January 2024 to begin working on the new iteration of the hit NBC mockumentary sitcom.

As the co-creator of Nathan for You with Nathan Fielder, Koman is no stranger to television that blurs the lines between fiction and reality. Koman’s other credits include Saturday Night Live, The Colbert Report, How To With John Wilson, and Late Night With Conan O’Brien, for which he won an Emmy Award. More recently, Koman served as a writer and co-executive producer on Girls5Eva.

I would definitely watch another series set in the world of The Office! I hope this happens, and I hope it’s great.
