THE OMEN Prequel Film THE FIRST OMEN Will Be Directed by Arkasha Stevenson
20th Century Studios is developing a prequel film for The Omen, which is titled The First Omen, and Legion series director Arkasha Stevenson is set to direct. She will be making her feature film directorial debut with the project. She is also co-writing the script with her writing partner Tim Smith.
There are no details on the story, but the original 1978 film follows an American ambassador (Gregory Peck) who believes his five-year-old son is the Antichrist, and he’s right! The kid totally is the Antichrist! I’m a fan of the original horror movie, and it will be interesting to see what story this prequel will tell.
The film spawned two sequels, 1978’s Damien: Omen II, and 1981’s The Final Conflict, which weren’t; as good at the first one. Then in 2006 there was a remake that starred Liev Schreiber, Julia Stiles, and David Thewlis, and that wasn’t very good either.
David S. Goyer and Keith Levine are producing the film. Hopefully, this prequel film ends up being good and scary.
