The Only Microtransactions in MORTAL KOMBAT 11 Will Be For Cosmetics
I can already hear some of you groaning, but Mortal Kombat 11 will have some microtransactions. I have some good news though. They are the kind of microtransactions that I am 100% ok with.
Shaun Himmerick who is serving as a producer on the game has revealed that players will be able to purchase “time crystals” with real money which are a form of in-game currency. However, these time crystals will only get you cosmetic items like skins and victory animations. Also, Himmerick explained that everything you can get with time crystals can be unlocked in-game without using real money.
This is the perfect kind of microtransaction in my opinion. They do not create a pay-to-win environment that can leave casual players like myself feeling like we have no hope, but they are still attractive to people who maybe want their main in a sick new outfit. What do you think of this approach to microtransactions?
Mortal Kombat 11 is set to release on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One on April 23.
