The Original WITCHER Game Is Getting A Ground Up Remake

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the first The Witcher game, CD PROJEKT RED has announced that they are currently working on a remake of The Witcher. Previously under the codename “Canis Majoris” during the studio’s strategy update, the remake will be a modern reimagining of the 2007 classic.

The game will be rebuilt with Unreal Engine 5 and will use the toolset CDPR is creating for the new Witcher saga. The project is currently in early stages of development at Fool’s Theory and includes developers who worked on other Witcher titles. No other details yet since development is still so early, but you can keep up to date by following The Witcher’s official social media pages.

I think this should be a really cool remake. I’ve been really impressed with the Resident Evil remakes that have come out and while the original Witcher isn’t quite as old as some of those original games, it will be fun to play it with better graphics. It should be interesting to see what other aspects of the game get changed. Are you excited for this remake? Any changes you hope to see?
