The Pilot of HBO's WATCHMEN Series Will Be Directed By THE LEFTOVERS' Nicole Kassell

Damon Lindelof has hired a director for the pilot episode of his upcoming Watchmen series. He's brought on Nicole Kassell for the job and Lindelof previously worked with her on his last HBO show The Leftovers. Nicole did some great work on The Leftovers and I think she'll bring some great stuff to Watchmen.

The series is being written by Lindelof and, as you know, it's based on the iconic graphic novel created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. I'm extremely curious to see what this series will be like. I really loved Zack Snyder's film adaptation, but with a series, there's so much more you can explore with the story and characters.

When previously talking about the series, Lindelof talked about wanting to make a dangerous show, saying:

"Watchmen—it was dangerous. And you can’t be dangerous for dangerous’s sake, but the reason that I’m doing this is these are dangerous times, and we need dangerous shows."

Lindelof went on to explain why what we think about superheroes is wrong:

"What we think about superheroes is wrong. I love the Marvel movies and we saw Justice League this morning and I’m all for Wonder Woman and Batman and I grew up on these characters, but we should not trust people who put on masks and say that they are looking out for us. If you hide your face, you are up to no good."

I can't wait to see what comes of this Watchmen series. With HBO involved there's a solid chance that it's going to be great.
