The Plain White T's Hit Song "Hey There Delilah" is Being Adapted Into a TV Series

Some music albums become Broadway musicals. Some musical artists have their stories told in films. Now, a song is trying to get an entire series. THR reports that Plain White T’s are adapting their best hit, “Hey There Delilah,” into a TV series.

The song shares a story about a man in love with a girl in New York City. They are in a long-distance relationship seemingly, and the boy continues to sing about his devotion to her and how the future will be hunky-dory.

I’ll be honest, I don’t think this is worthy of being adapted considering the countless Hallmark movies that probably already exist with this same premise. However, no one asked my opinion and so the band is teaming up with Lively McCabe Entertainment to give us a romantic dramedy series. Tom Higgenson, the songwriter, has teamed with writer Jeremy Desmon to pitch the series to several networks and studios over the course of this month.

I’m not opposed to songs and albums being adapted. I just feel like this is a story that’s been told so many times already that it’s not worth doing. Also, I think for a single song, a 90-minute movie would be a better format than a TV series.
