The POWER RANGERS Movie May Be Releasing in 2023
Hasbro and eOne are currently working on making a film reboot for the Power Rangers franchise. Fans don’t know much, but we know that Jonathan Entwistle will be directing the film, and according to reports, time travel will play a big role and it will link TV and film like never before seen in the franchise.
Once again, I want to reiterate that the only thing we know for certain is that Entwistle is directing. Everything else comes from various reports and may not reflect the final product. The latest report that should be taken with a grain of salt comes from the Brazilian Licensing Convention and has been making the rounds thanks to @PwrRngr and @MegaPowerBrasil. The site used to say that the film would release in 2023.
I do want to note that the part that mentions the film releasing in 2023 has been removed from the site.
Now, 2023 would make a lot of sense. For one, the film appears to still be in early development and would allow for all of 2022 for the production and post-production of the film with some of 2023 available as well to meet that goal. Also, 2023 will mark the 30th anniversary of Power Rangers which released on August 28, 1993. Launching a big movie project to coincide with a huge anniversary would definitely be a great way to celebrate.
Another reason 2023 makes sense is that we know that Power Rangers Dino Fury will be releasing its second season in 2022, but we don’t know what Hasbro’s plans are for after that season. There have been reports and rumors that Hasbro will be completely changing the world of Power Rangers after Dino Fury and a movie could be a great way to usher in that change.
Of course, take this with a huge grain of salt until we hear official reports. I’m very excited to see what Entwistle and Hasbro have in store for the franchise.
