THE POWERPUFF GIRLS Get a Dark and Gritty Fan-Made Short From CASTLEVANIA Producer Adi Shankar

I actually had a lot of fun watching The Powerpuff Girls animated series with my kids back in the day. Now, thanks to producer Adi Shankar, we have a short film to share with you that envisions The Powerpuff Girls in a dark and gritty way called Powerpuff Girls: The Long Way Back.

Adi Shankar is the producer of the Castlevania animated series and he previously produced a few “bootleg” projects such as the Venom short Truth in Journalism, Power Rangers, The Punisher, and Judge Dredd: Superfiend.

This Powerpuff Girls short is the first in what will be a series of fan-made films made under a new project called “One-Shots Presents”. The purpose is to “showcase up and coming filmmakers who share our love of fandom.”

Here’s the synopsis for the short film:

Based on the cartoon , "Powerpuff Girls: The Long Way Back" is a live-action reimagining of our favorite super sibs - The Powerpuff Girls! 10 years after losing their powers,  and their father, Professor Utonium, the estranged sisters reunite for one final mission, facing old foes and becoming heroes once again!

This film was made by Steven LaMorte on a budget of $9,000, and I think that fans of the original series might enjoy it. It’s a little rough around the edges, but it’s still enjoyable.

Watch it below and let us know what you think!

We're going to be presenting some cool fan films that we did not make under "One-Shots Presents" to showcase up and coming filmmakers who share our love of fandom. More importantly we'll then drop info on how they were made.
