The Predator Faces Off with a Comanche Warrior in First Teaser Trailer for PREY
20th Century has released the first teaser trailer for director Dan Trachtenberg’s upcoming film Prey, which is the latest entry in the Predator franchise. This film has such a cool and exciting concept as the story is set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago. I’ve always thought it would be cool to see a Predator movie set in a different time period, and here we are!
The movie follows a young woman named Naru, “a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.”
It’s explained that the filmmakers were committed to providing an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and bring a level of authenticity to the film, one that rings true to its Indigenous peoples. Producer Jhane Myers (Monsters of God), an acclaimed filmmaker and member of the Comanche nation herself, “is known for her attention and dedication to films surrounding the Comanche and Blackfeet nations and her passion for honoring the legacies of the Native communities. As a result, the film features a cast comprised almost entirely of Native and First Nation’s talent.”
The film’s cast includes Amber Midthunder (The Ice Road, Roswell, New Mexico), newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (Sooyii), Michelle Thrush (The Journey Home), Julian Black Antelope (Tribal).
Prey will be released exclusively on Hulu on August 5, 2022. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think!
