The Producer of The Classic X-MEN Animated Series Says He's Had Talks with Disney+ About Reviving The Show
About a year ago we learned that the creators of the classic ‘90s X-Men animated series were in the process of trying to revive the show, which got fans super excited. Well, it looks like they’ve actually made some progress with that!
During a recent appearance at a virtual Wizard World panel, original series producer and director Larry Houston reveals that he had talks with Disney+ about making this revival a reality. He says:
"We’ve had talks, but that’s about it. We’ve made conversation and it’s up to them to make the decision, but we’ve let them know that we’re all available for whatever they want to do in the future."
Houston is "semi-retired," but he would be happy to come back "if we could do a special, a one-off episode, or a five-part episode. Whatever they wanted to do if we had all the original team. That’s what I would come out of retirement for."
It would be pretty damn cool if Disney+ actually jumped on this. They totally should! The fans would flip out over it and there’s no doubt it would be a big hit. If the creative team does get the opportunity to do this, it will be interesting to see what they have in store. They’ve got to have some ideas that they’d like to play with.
The X-Men series, which ran for a total of 76 episodes over the course of five seasons, is considered to be the best adaptation of the X-Men comic that we’ve seen, and to see that continue with a revival would be freakin’ rad!
