THE PROMISED NEVERLAND Is Getting a Live-Action Series From Amazon and the INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Team
Amazon Studio is set to produce a live-action English-language series adaptation of the manga/anime The Promised Neverland. The project is being written by Meghan Malloy and directed and executive produced by Rodney Rothman. They both worked on the incredible animated film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, so I suspect we can expect great things from this adaptation.
The Promised Neverland manga was created by writer Kaiu Shirai and artist Posuka Demizu. The story follows a group of the smartest kids at a seemingly idyllic orphanage who “uncover its dark truth when they break a rule to never leave the orphanage grounds. Once the truth is discovered, they begin to plan an escape to save all of the children.”
They’ve got a talented creative team bringing this project to life, and it’ll be interesting and cool to see how it turns out. There’s a great story here and I’m expecting great things from this talent. Hopefully, they deliver a great adaptation that will make the fans happy.
Masi Oka (Heroes, Death Note, Attack on Titan) is on board to executive produce along with Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo.
What do you think about The Promised Neverland getting a live-action adaptation?
