Gareth Evans, the director behind the badass action film franchise The Raid, is set to direct a new action thriller for Netflix titled Havoc. This is the first film in an exclusive deal that Evans recently made with Netflix and Tom Hardy is set to star in the movie.

The story for the film is set after “a drug deal gone wrong, a bruised detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.”

That concept definitely has similarities to The Raid films, and I’m excited to see what kind of action insanity Evans has in store for it. It’s also going to be great to see Tom Hardy in a hardcore action role brutally kicking all kinds of ass.

Evans will write and direct the movie, as well as produce for One More One Productions, and Hardy is also a producer.

Evans previously worked with Netflix on the crazy horror thriller Apostle, starring Dan Stevens and it was after that Netflix knew it wanted to be in long-term business with Evans, so they put this deal together.
