The Reboot of THE CROW Isn't Dead and a New Director and Cast Will Be Announced Soon

Director Corin Hardy (The Hallow, The Nun) was developing a reboot of The Crow for years and Jason Momoa was set to star. The movie was about to go into production when the whole thing just fell apart. I was actually kind of glad when it did, but it didn’t stay dead for long.

I guess it was only a matter of time before the rights owner Ed Pressman was going to attempt to try making it again. In a recent interview with IndieWire, Pressman revealed that they’ve been working on something that that we can expect a new director and casting announcement soon.

Pressman shared that "The Crow is a kind of anti-superhero, unique to the world of graphic novels," and the outlet went on to note that "Ed said he and his partners expected to announce a new director and cast in the near future" and that the approach will be to "reboot" the franchise.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of talent that they bring on board for this next attempt. But, in the end, no matter what they do, I just don’t think a reboot of the franchise will be as successful as they think it will be.

The Crow is based on the comic created by James O'Barr, and the original 1994 film, which starred Brandon Lee, is the one and only adaptation that a lot of fans need. It had a great performance by Lee, and I loved the visual style of the film.

But, there are a lot of different ways to play with the franchise and reinvent some things. We’ll just have to wait and see what some of those things are and if it becomes something that audiences will be able connect to.
