The Release Date for Milla Jovovich's MONSTER HUNTER Has Been Pushed Back
Another day, another movie release date being pushed back. Sony Pictures has announced a new release date for director Paul WS Anderson’s film adaptation of Monster Hunter. It was originally supposed to be released on September 4th, 2020, but now it won’t hit theaters until April 23rd, 2021.
A Quiet Place Part II is being released on September 4th, and it seems like the studio didn’t want to compete with that at the box office. Moving the release of the film is probably a good call. Also, it’s still unclear how the pandemic is going to play out as cities like Los Angeles are looking like they’re going to shut down again. There’s a good chance that all the August release dates currently set will end up being pushed back into the fall, anyway.
Milla Jovovich takes on the role of Artemis in the film, and she is transported to another realm populated by monsters. She meets Hunter in this world, who is played by Tony Jaa. The two end up teaming up to fight to close a portal to prevent monsters from invading earth. Here’s the synopsis:
Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, revolting attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back.
The movie also stars Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Drive), T.I. Harris (Ant-Man and The Wasp), Diego Boneta (Luis Miguel, Rock of Ages), Meagan Good (Code Black), and Josh Helman (X-Men: Days of Future Past).
