The Release Date for THE DARK TOWER Has Been Pushed Back... Again

Movie The Dark Tower by Joey Paur

Fans of Stephen King's The Dark Tower have been waiting to see a big screen adaptation for years! Unfortunately, we're going to have to wait a little bit longer. EW recently announced that the release of the film has once again been pushed back.

It was supposed to be released on July 28th, but now it will hit theaters on August 4th. I know it's not that long of a wait, I just hope they don't push it back any further. The movie exists! We are going to see it one day!

We recently got to see the first trailer for the film at CinemaCon during the Warner Bros. presentation, and I was super impressed by what I saw. You can watch our reaction video for it here in case you missed it.

There's a lot riding on this movie. It has to succeed! If it doesn't, if the movie fails at the box office, we won't get to see the two other planned films or TV series. I want to see the full vision of this adaptation play out! It would be such a shame if it didn't.

The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum.  It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.

We've already seen a few photos from the film featuring Idris Elba as The Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers, and Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black.

The film is being directed by Nikolaj Arcel. It also stars Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Tirana; Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods) as Pimli, the right-hand man of Randall Flagg; Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen); Katheryn Winnick (Vikings), and Claudia Kiim (Avengers: Age of Ultron).

The Dark Tower hits theaters this summer on August 4. To catch up on all of our Dark Tower news, click here.
