The Release Date For UNCHARTED Has Been Pushed Back and MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Was Removed From The Schedule
A couple of weeks ago, we learned that Venom director Ruben Fleischer was hired to replace Travis Knight as the director of Sony Pictures’ feature film adaptation of Uncharted. While he’s not my favorite choice as a director, maybe he’ll surprise me and deliver a decent film that will, at least, be entertaining.
The studio has now announced that they have pushed the release date back from December 18, 2020 release date to March 5, 2021. Obviously, the director is going to need some time to start on the project and rework some aspect of it to his liking.
Uncharted has been on the long road to production and has gone through several different directors over the years. Maybe Flieiser will be the one to push it through.
Tom Holland is set to play a young version of Nathan Drake, and the film will tell “an origin story that evolves out of the game but is not from the game." It will follow the character as he grows into the treasure hunter that we all know from the game. Mark Wahlberg is set to play Darke’s mentor Sully.
I don’t really care for the direction of the story that the film is taking, and I don’t think Holland is right for the role of Drake. But, we’ll see how it turns out! Are any of you excited about the movie the origin story the studio is looking to tell?
It was also reported that Sony’s Masters of the Universe film, which was set to be released on March 5th, 2021, has been removed from the release schedule. So, we’ll have to wait and see what happens with that.
