THE RESCUE Trailer Sends Brandon Sklenar and a Loyal Dog on a Brutal Mission to Save His Daughter
Paramount Pictures has dropped the trailer for The Rescue, a gritty action thriller that throws a cowboy, a kidnapping, a loyal dog, and plenty of vengeance into the same movie.
If watching Brandon Sklenar hunt down bad guys with a four-legged partner at his side sounds like your kind of thing, this one is coming in hot.
Sklenar stars as a former rodeo cowboy known simply as “The Cowboy,” whose daughter is kidnapped and held for ransom. Rather than sit around waiting for someone else to bring her back, he goes after her himself, accompanied by her devoted dog.
The official synopsis reads: “He will not stop until she's home." A former rodeo cowboy (Brandon Sklenar) takes matters into his own hands when his daughter is kidnapped for ransom. With her devoted dog by his side, he sets out to bring her home and will stop at nothing to find her.
The trailer looks like a straight-up old-school rescue thriller loaded with familiar “good guy takes out the bad guys” territory. There’s a little Western flavor mixed into the action, along with the added emotional hook of a father trying to get his daughter home.
Joining Sklenar are Josh Lucas, Hassie Harrison, Lorelei Olivia Mote, Nick Searcy, Austin Amelio, Spencer Treat Clark, Tim Blake Nelson, and Josh Duhamel.
The Rescue is directed by Potsy Ponciroli, whose previous films include Super Zeroes, Old Henry, Greedy People, and Motor City. The screenplay was written by John Fusco, with Shannon Houchins, Cliff Roberts, and Ponciroli producing.
The trailer certainly isn't hiding what kind of movie this is. There’s definitely a cheese factor with this movie, but that could also be part of the fun if The Rescue fully commits to its pulpy cowboy-action premise.
Paramount Pictures will release The Rescue in U.S. theaters on January 29, 2027.
