The ROSEANNE Spinoff Series THE CONNERS Has Officially Been Ordered By ABC

After weeks of talk about a Roseanne spinoff series, ABC has officially ordered The Connors, which will star John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman. As you would assume, Roseanne Barr will not be a part of it in any way. In case you don't remember, Roseanne was canceled after Barr made a racist statement on Twitter.

An ABC spokesperson had this to say in a statement:

“The Conners’ stories demonstrate that families can always find common ground through conversation, laughter and love. The spinoff will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago.”

The gave The Conners a 10-episode order and it's slated to debut this fall and take over the 8pm Tuesday time period slot. There's no word on how they will handle Barr being written off the show.

In a joint statement released by ABC, cast members Goodman, Metcalf, Gilbert, Goranson, and Fishman said:

"We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience. We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter."

It's good to see that the series will continue and that the hardworking cast and crew have their jobs back and will be able to continue to bring us some good entertainment.
