The Russo Bros. Animated MAGIC: THE GATHERING Series Could Lead a Live-Action Spinoff

Joe and Anthony Russo briefly discussed their upcoming Magic: The Gathering animated Netflix series project during their Hall H panel at Comic-Con.

While they talked about their love for the game, they teased the the series could grow into something more… a live action spinoff! Joe said:

“It’s an animated project with the potential to spin it off into live-action. It’s a game we love — we’re geeks and love Magic:The Gathering and we’re excited to tell stories with it.”

The didn’t offer any other details on this potential live action, but the fact they are openly talking about it and thinking about ideas for it is exciting! If the animated series ends up doing well, maybe a live action series will follow after!

As far as the animated series goes, all they wanted to tell the fans a the time is to look out for the Magic: The Gathering characters Jace and Chandra, who are two of the more popular characters in the property.

It was previously revealed that it will focus on the expansive world of Magic: The Gathering and its Planeswalker, which are described as “Magic’s unique magic-wielding heroes and villains as they contend with stakes larger than any one world can hold.”
