The Russo Bros. Discuss The Unique Tone of AVENGERS: ENDGAME and How It Makes The Film Different Than INFINITY WAR

It’s an exciting time for Marvel fans! Especially with the conclusion to a story arc that started ten years ago with a little film called Iron Man. It’s been amazing to see what Marvel Studios has accomplished and that they were able to pull this off!

Avengers: Endgame is the conclusion to The Infinity Saga. After that a whole new adventure will begin. We will be introduced to a lot of new characters, but we’ll also see some familiar faces return as well.

In a recent interview with Box Office Pro, director Joe Russo talks about Endgame, its unique tone, and how that tone makes the film very different from Infinity War. He also explains that it’s the reason why they wanted to keep the story separate from Infinity War and make Endgame its own movie:

“I will say that the movie is definitely unique in tone. It has its own spirit that’s different than Infinity War, which is why I was keen for us to separate the movies. Of course, we’re handing off narratives and it’s been serialized over 22 movies. But, it’s different tonally than Infinity War and it is told from a different point of view. It was important for us in our minds as film directors to separate those two because we do not want to make the same movie twice, and ways that you can differentiate films are through tone and point of view.”

I do like the fact that the two films will have their own respective tone. You can certainly see the difference in the tone in the trailers that have been released. Endgame has much more of a somber vibe as the surviving Avengers are dealing with the deaths of their friends and allies and struggling to find a way to fix things.

While there are a lot of theories and speculation about how the Avengers will go about fixing things, we won’t know for sure until the movie is released. I just hope that Marvel surprises us with something that no one was expecting!

Avengers: Endgame arrives in theaters on April 26th.
