The Russo Bros. Interested in Developing Video Games for AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY and SECRET WARS

Before making their potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the next Avengers films, Joe and Anthony Russo have expressed interest in expanding their storytelling into video games, including ones tied to Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.

The Russo Bros. are about to release their next big project, The Electric State, which lands on Netflix later this month. Shortly after, a prequel video game, The Electric State: Kid Cosmo, will be available on mobile platforms.

The game is described as a “bite-sized adventure puzzle” with a “narrative-driven” story that takes place before the movie, covering five years of events while blending emotional storytelling with gameplay.

Through their production company, AGBO, Joe and Anthony worked closely with Netflix to bring Kid Cosmo to life. Now, in an interview with Variety, the directors revealed that they’d be open to doing something similar for Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.

“We would definitely be open to it,” Joe Russo confirmed. “Right now, what we’re doing is creating new IP. At AGBO, we want to tell new stories. We want to tell new stories with new characters and new worlds that people haven’t seen before. So Anthony and I and Donald are working together to build out new worlds.”

He continued: “And we have three that we’re currently working on that the intention is, for every world we build to have the scale and depth of a Star Wars universe, but in a different genre.

“And then we’ll build materials around those new worlds. We’ll tell stories in different ways using different media in those worlds.”

While several Marvel video games are in the works, none have been directly tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Given the development time required for high-quality games, one connected to the upcoming Avengers films seems like a long shot, but it would be interesting to see Russos jump into the development of Marvel games!
